Attention Engineering Students,

The Lakehead Engineering Student Society (ESS) is pleased to announce the following new & exciting opportunities for the upcoming school year:

1) ESS Commissioner Positions: The ESS Council is being expanded to add four new positions: Director of Merchandise, Director of Social Media, Director of ESS Affairs, and ESS Webmaster. A summary of the roles & responsibilities is highlighted below. New members will have full speaking rights at ESS Executive meetings and take part in day-to-day ESS affairs.

2) Engineering Equipment Endowment Fund (EEEF) Positions: The EEEF works closely with the ESS and is responsible for allocating a $30,000 budget (paid into by all Engineering students) to purchase new equipment on campus. Last year EEEF funds helped establish the new makerspace, which will be opening soon! Call for proposals for the allocation of funds for the 2016/2017 year, will be opening soon. Both students and faculty are encouraged to participate in the process.

3) Makerspace Volunteers: The makerspace is underway in CB 1004. Currently the equipment (3D printers, laser cutter, etc.) is being commissioned and tested. Once safety & training procedures are established, students will be able to access the room. Volunteers will be needed to assist with set-up & contribute to special projects. Watch out for details in the coming month!

4) ESS Volunteers: Volunteers are alwaysneeded to run events, build coveralls, promote activities, etc. Pizza is provided at most volunteering events and it look great on a resume!
